Deep Tissue is a type of therapy that focuses on realigning deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue. This style is beneficial in relieving chronically tense and contracted areas such as neck, back, and shoulders. The pressure is deeper and concentrated in areas of pain and tension.
Neuromuscular Therapy is a type of massage where pressure is applied to a trigger-point with the aim of stimulating specific areas of skeletal muscle.
Thai massage involves stretching and deep rhythmic pressing of the body. This type is performed on the table and incorporated with other modalities of massage.
Hot Stone massage uses smooth, heated basalt stones to relax the muscles and increase circulation to aid in pulling toxins from the connective tissues. Hot Stone therapy can be given with other massage modalities in a one hour session or given exclusively as a one and a half hour session.
Swedish massage is one of the most common types of massage. It's purpose to energize the body, move stagnation, improve overall health and encourage full body relaxation. This modality uses different types of long, flowing movements; to improve circulation, soothe discomfort, help move toxins out and prepare the joints for better movement.
Usually added to a massage or other session, one or more scented plant oils called essential oils address specific needs. Selected oils can be relaxing, energizing, stress-reducing, balancing, etc. Aromatherapy massage is particularly directed to stress-related conditions or conditions with an emotional component. We also offer classes for anyone who is interested in using Essential oils for their personal well-being and health.
Also called prenatal massage, it is very popular with expectant and new mothers. Pregnancy massage is used to reduce stress, decrease swelling, relieve aches and pains, and reduce anxiety and depression. This massage is customized to a woman's individual needs.
This is more than simple foot massage it offers relief of stress and tension and improved blood supply to your hands and feet. Your therapist will spend close to an hour focusing on your hands and feet. Reflexology involves applying pressure to certain points on the foot that correspond to organs and systems in the body. Reflexology is very relaxing, especially for people who stand on their feet all day or just have tired, achy feet. It aids the body in achieving homeostasis.
Sports massage is specifically designed for people who are involved in physical activity. But you don't have to be a professional athlete to have one-it's also used by people who are active and work out often. The focus isn't on relaxation but on preventing and treating injury and enhancing athletic performance. A variety of techniques are utilized. Facilitated stretching (PNF) is a common technique. It helps to loosen muscles and increase flexibility and ROM. This type of massage helps athletes prepare their bodies for optimal performance, recover after a big event, or function well during training. It emphasizes prevention and healing of injuries to muscles and tendons
The lymph system is the complicated yet silent system that works to keep us healthy. Without it our bodies would swell up like balloons, swamping our cells with stagnant fluid. The lymph system is impacted by minor aches and pains, low energy or susceptibility to colds and flu may be due to a sluggish lymph system and a compromised immune system. Illness, feeling sluggish, edema, pre- surgery and post-surgery are all great reasons to get MLD. Your therapist will use a very light amount of pressure, affecting the systems just below the skin to flush out toxins throughout your body. After a MLD session, one may experience cloudy or strong smelling urine, more energy, be more thirsty and a feeling of relaxation and refreshed.
Cupping is the use of silicone or plastic cups applied to the body by suctioning. These cups are moved across the body in the direction of the lymph to encourage lymph stimulation and movement of anything stagnant in the body.Cupping creates a localized vacuum of negative pressure that can loosen tight muscles, decrease PAIN and discomfort in the body, creates a deep sense of relaxation and helps to gently detoxify the body.
The vacuum created by the suction effect of the cups increases blood and lymphatic circulation systemically and locally, relaxes tight muscle and connective tissue, lessens pain, reduces inflammation, draws out “stagnation” and toxins from the tissues and improves digestion.
